Pavement and Ice
I was walking home
careful on the new formed ice
that crunched under my thin shoes
I was walking tall,
With confidence that I took for granted.
I turned the corner
and in
Slow
Motion
My
legs slid out from under me
And cartoon like,
I flew up
Only to land on my leg
My hip
My head cracking as it
Bounded off the icy pavement.
I laid stunned for a moment
Wondering if there would
Be Blood
Where my head hit
Wondering if
The people talking behind
That Jetta
Saw the whole thing
(they didn't)
I got up carefully,
Stumbled home
My head is fine
Now my damn leg
Hurts like the bone is growing
I Hate
Pavement
and Ice.
